COLLEGE STATION, Texas—The Texas A&M equestrian team signed three student-athletes to national letters of intent, head coach Tana McKay announced Tuesday.

Cheyenne Cracraft (Las Vegas, Nev.), Shelby Lawson (Austin) and Ellie Wilkins (Evergreen, Colo.) all will join the Aggie equestrian squad next fall.

Cracraft, the daughter of Val and Teri Cracraft of Las Vegas, Nevada, attends Arbor View High School and will join the A&M reining team. She was a finalist in reining at the 2009 American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Show this past summer in Oklahoma City and has multiple NRHA and AQHA championships under her belt.

“We are very excited to add Cheyenne to our talented team,” McKay said. “She has a great showing and riding background and will be a wonderful addition to the Aggie family.”

Lawson, the daughter of Charles and Lynette Lawson of Austin, attends Lake Travis High School and will be a part of the Aggie hunter seat squad. Along with posting numerous top finishes in Texas Hunter/Jumper Association shows, she qualified for the 2009 Zone 7 Junior Hunter Finals and was a 2009 USEF/Pessoa junior hunter seat medal qualifier.

“Shelby’s grown up watching Texas A&M equestrian and is very enthusiastic about becoming part of this program,” associate head coach Linzy Woolf said. “She’ll be a big asset to this team both inside and outside the competition arena and we are excited to have her.”

Wilkins, the daughter of Ross and Jan Wilkins of Evergreen, Colorado, attends the Colorado Academy in Denver and will also join the hunter seat program. She was the USEF Zone 8 Equitation champion the last two years and earned high point honors in 2008. This year, Wilkins has already qualified for and competed in the USEF Medal Finals in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

“Ellie has had great success on both the local and national level and I feel that she is going to be a big contributor to the future of our team,” Woolf said. “We are very thankful that she chose to be a part of the Texas A&M equestrian program.”
