NASCAR Architect Dies

DAYTONA BEACH, FL -- Bill France, Junior has passed away.
He replaced his father, Bill, Senior, in January of 1972 as chairman of NASCAR and proceeded to watch it grow to what it is today. Like his father, he was elected to the International Motorsports Hall of Fame.

Under the guidance of France, Junior, NASCAR went from a regional sport to one with fans across the country that is a billion dollar conglomerate.

France had been in poor health for much of the last decade. He
was diagnosed with cancer in 1999.
