HUNTSVILLE -- Kristin Ford, a 6-0 transfer from Paris Junior College, became the fourth student-athlete this spring to sign a letter-of-intent with Sam Houston State women's basketball coach Brenda Welch-Nichols.

Ford averaged 12.1 points and 10.2 rebounds for Paris last season, earning second team All-Conference honors after leading the team to a 17-13 overall record. She was a first team All-District selection as both a junior and senior in North Crowley High School in Fort Worth.

"Kristin will bring the inside threat that we need next season," SHSU head coach Brenda Welch-Nichols said. "She is a hard-nosed, blue collar worker who is not afraid to get in the paint and get physical. Kristin will make big strides for Sam Houston the next two years."

Other players who have signed with the Bearkat women's basketball team include 6-0 forward Deltrice Daniels of Clear Lake, 5-5 point guard Ausha Hartley from Houston Westside High School, and 6-0 post player Jameisha Todd from Columbus, GA.
