PITTSBURG, KS -- As if there wasn't enough pressure trying to get ready for number one ranked Fort Scott Community College in the Citizen's Bank Bowl, Brad Franchione also had lots of eyes watching his every move as he returns home with his second ranked Blinn Bucs chasing the program's fourth JUCO Football National Championship.

The Bucs jumped out to a 10 nothing lead against the Grey Hounds and appeared to be in complete control of the game, but Fort Scott rolled off 26 unanswered points and had a 26-10 advantage in the second half.

Blinn rallied back and cut the lead to 26-24 late in the fourth. The Buc defense forced Fort Scott to punt the ball with under 30 seconds to play and that's when Froechnicht became a household name on the Brenham campus.

Chad Froechnicht returned the punt 84 yards and crossed the goal line with 15 seconds left as Blinn won its second national championship in five years of the Franchione era 31-26.

"This is a special moment in my life," said Franchione after the dramatic win. "A lot of people here know what my goals were when I was a youngster. At 35 years old to achieve something like this is very special."

Franchione won his first national championship in just his second season as the Bucs head coach in 2006 with a win over Pearl River and now three years Coach Fran has two national titles and is combined 46-10 in five seasons at Blinn.
