ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - The Billy Donovan era in Orlando lasted
less than a week.
The Magic have released Donovan from his head coaching contract,
six days after he agreed to leave the Florida Gators for a
five-year, 27 and a-half (m) million-dollar contract with Orlando.
He was introduced by the Magic on Friday but told the team a day
later he wanted out of his contract.
The Magic issued a statement tonight saying they have granted
Donovan permission to break his commitment and return to the
Gators. The team would not explain any details of the agreement.
Donovan has led Florida to the last two N-C-A-A titles.
