Series Notes

New Mexico leads the series, 4-1, including a 3-1 record in Albuquerque and a 1-0 mark in College Station.
A&M and UNM have never played on a neutral court.
The teams last met in the 1992-93 season opener, with the Lobos escaping with a 71-69 victory in Albuquerque. nA&M's lone victory in the series came in Albuquerque (79-68) in the first round of the 1979 postseason NIT.
Mark Turgeon is 0-1 against UNM. In 2006-07, his final Wichita State team - which started 9-0 - lost its first game of the year to the Lobos (71-68) in the first round of the Las Vegas Holiday Classic.
A&M is 100-87 against current members of the Mountain West Conference, which includes an 88-76 mark against former Southwest Conference foe TCU. The last time the Aggies played a MWC team was when they beat BYU (79-66) in the first round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament in Philadelphia.
Key Game Notes

A&M has won four straight games, including a 75-65 victory against North Texas at home Monday.
The Aggies are playing a neutral site game in Houston's Toyota Center, home of the NBA's Houston Rockets, for the second straight year. A&M defeated LSU (72-61) at the Toyota Center last season.
A&M is nationally ranked (No. 16 AP; No. 18 coaches) for the second straight week.
The Aggies have beaten two nationally-ranked teams in non-conference play for just the second time in its history. The 1978-79 team posted four non-conference wins against ranked opponents. A&M plays at No. 16 Washington Dec. 22 in the Big 12/Pac 10 Hardwood Series.
A&M is 6-2 in regular-season neutral site games under Head Coach Mark Turgeon, including wins against Ohio State, Washington, Clemson, Minnesota, LSU and Kent State. The losses were to Tulsa and West Virginia.

About New Mexico

In their third season under Head Coach Steve Alford, the Lobos are receiving votes in both polls.
New Mexico has just three upperclassmen on its roster, including only one senior.
The Lobos were picked to finish fifth in the Mountain West Conference in a preseason polls of the league's coaches. Junior forward Darington Hobson (6-7) leads the team in scoring with a 17.1 average, followed closely by senior forward Roman Martinez (6-6), who adds 16.8. Hobson also leads the team in rebounding (7.9).
North Texas Recap
COLLEGE STATION (AP) -- Donald Sloan likes what he sees from Texas A&M's rugged defense. "We just fed off of our defense," said Sloan, who scored 21 points to lead the Aggies (No. 18 ESPN/USA Today, No. 16 AP) to a 75-65 victory over North Texas on Monday night. "If we get stops we're all right. If we don't -- that's when we get in trouble." Sloan led four A&M players in double figures. Bryan Davis added 15 points, David Loubeau scored 12 and Derrick Roland had 10 for the Aggies (8-1), who have won four straight. Eric Tramiel scored 17 points to lead the Mean Green (5-3), who lost their second in a row. The Aggies trailed 17-14 with 11:43 remaining in the first half before outscoring North Texas 26-4 over the next 10 minutes. In that span, the Aggies forced seven of the Mean Green's 14 turnovers in the game. North Texas was 4 of 16 from 3-point range, but the Aggies weren't much better with 5 3-pointers in 14 attempts. The Aggies entered the game shooting 64.1 percent from the free-throw line, but were 20 of 24 (83.3 percent) against the Mean Green. A&M has won 48 consecutive nonconference home games. The Aggies next play New Mexico in the Toyota Center, home of the NBA's Houston Rockets, on Saturday. Aggies coach Mark Turgeon said he was pleased with how his team has held up while playing six games over 12 days. "I thought we had a little fatigue out there," Turgeon said. "I was a little concerned about this stretch. We have a long way to go, but to be 8-1 following the stretch we've played -- it's a good start." North Texas Coach Johnny Jones said he was impressed with A&M's toughness -- especially on defense. "They're ranked, and rightfully so," Jones said. "They're a senior, experienced team that steps up and makes plays when they need to."
