7th Ranked Centerville Wins "Slowdown" Versus 8th Ranked Franklin 9-5

FRANKLIN, TX -- Franklin's John Shelton felt like slowing things down was the best chance his 8th ranked Lady Lions had against 7th ranked Centerville Friday night at Lions Gym.

With Centerville up 7-4 in the first quarter Shelton put the brakes on the game and threw things into a stall holding the ball for the final 4 minutes of the opening quarter. With the lead, Centerville Head Coach James Crafton did the same holding the ball for most of the second quarter. While neither team scored in the 2nd, there was no scoring in the 3rd quarter either. The two teams did finally combine for 3 points in the 4th with Centerville winning this showdown of two state ranked teams 9-5.

Centerville's Marissa Harris lead all scorers with five points which included a pair of free throws in the final 10 seconds to seal the victory for the Lady Tigers.

Franklin will be on the road Tuesday when they travel to Hempstead to take on the Lady Bobcats. Tip off is set for 6:30. Centerville will return home to host New Waverly with the Lady Tigers game expected to start around 6pm.
