BRYAN -- The Brazos Valley Bombers announced that today’s scheduled game against the Coppell Copperheads has been postponed due to foul weather. Because of current field conditions and the possibility of additional rain in the next 24 hours, the game will be made up on July 18, when the two teams were scheduled to have an off-day.
The Bombers will still be playing their regularly-scheduled game against Coppell on Tuesday night at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark. Game time is 7:05 pm, and Tuesday night is College Night, presented by Aggie 96. Students showing their college ID’s will get be able to purchase tickets for just one dollar each.
Tuesday’s game is also an important with respect to the divisional race. The Copperheads currently hold the best record in the Tris Speaker Division, two games ahead of both the Bombers and Colleyville LoneStars. Brazos Valley won on Saturday night in Coppell on the strength of two Kip Masuda home runs, and another win on Tuesday would further close the gap in the playoff race. The top two teams in each division at the end of the season qualify for the Texas Collegiate League playoffs.
Following Tuesday’s game, the Bombers will go on the road to visit Weatherford on Wednesday night and Denton on Thursday. The team returns home for a pair of games over the weekend, starting with Saturday night’s contest with the Duncanville Deputies. Saturday is also Bombers Logo Baseball Giveaway Night, where the first 500 fans through the gates will receive a Bombers inaugural season logo baseball, presented by Infinity Pro Design. Sunday is a Bombers Kids Club Sunday, with kids receiving a D-Bat TCL mini-bat, sponsored by Mix 104.7.
After another two games on the road, the Bombers will be back to celebrate America on July 4 at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark. The Bombers will take on the Wichita Falls Roughnecks in a special mid-week afternoon game beginning at 3 pm.
