Rangers Rally In 9th To Beat Tigers

DETROIT, MI -- Marlon Byrd delivered a tiebreaking triple in the ninth inning before scoring an insurance run in the Texas Rangers' 9-to-6 victory at Detroit.

The game was tied 6-to-6 until Byrd delivered a three-bagger

Brad Wilkerson hit a three-run homer in the Tigers' five-run
seventh. Byrd drove in three runs and Sammy Sosa added two R-B-Is
to the Rangers' sixth victory in seven games.

Sean Casey had three hits and three ribbies for the Tigers, who
fell into a first-place tie with Cleveland in the A-L Central.

Akinori Otsuka improved to 2-and-1 despite blowing a 6-to-3 lead in the eighth. Eric Gagne picked up his eighth save with a scoreless ninth.

The loss goes to 1-and-4 Todd Jones.
