BOSTON -- Sammy Sosa hit his 602nd career homer to break a
fifth-inning tie in leading the Texas Rangers over Boston 5-to-4.
Sosa lined a solo shot off the front row of the Monster Seats to
break a 4-4 tie. That deprived Boston starter Josh Beckett a chance
to match C-C Sabathia as the only 12-game winners in the majors.
Beckett is 11-and-2 after being hit hard. Beckett gave up five
runs and ten hits in five innings.
Ron Mahay earned the victory with two innings of scoreless
relief. He's 2-and-0.
Frank Catalanotto had three hits for the Rangers, who had lost
five straight against the Red Sox.
