BOSTON (AP) - Eric Hinske and Dustin Pedroia have the big hits as the Boston Red Sox beat Texas 7-to-3 to earn a four-game split.
The Red Sox had a one-run lead in the fifth until Hinske
delivered a bases-loaded triple. It came a half-inning after Brad
Wilkerson hit a three-run homer to get the Rangers within 4-to-3.
Pedroia opened the scoring with a two-run double in the third
before coming home on a double by Manny Ramirez.
Jacob Ellsbury manufactured Boston's fourth run when he singled,
stole second and scored from second on a wild pitch that bounced
off catcher Gerald Laird.
Kason Gabbard took a no-hitter into the fifth and improved to
2-and-0, giving up three runs and three hits over five and
two-thirds.
Brandon McCarthy dipped to 4-and-5, allowing four runs and six
hits over three and two-thirds after coming off the disabled list
earlier in the day.
