ARLINGTON, Texas -- Kelvim Escobar pitched seven strong innings and Maicer Izturis hit a two-run triple as the Los Angeles Angels knocked off Texas 5-to-2.
Escobar improved to 10-and-3 just hours after losing an Internet
vote that decided the final American League All-Star roster spot.
He gave up a run and three hits while striking out eight to improve
to 4-and-0 in six starts since the beginning of June.
Jose Molina singled home the tiebreaking run in the fifth, one
inning before Izturis tripled home two runs. Izturis scored twice
as the Angels won for only the third time in their last nine games.
Robinson Tejeda (teh-HAY'-dah) was lifted in the sixth inning,
charged with four runs and six hits to fall to 5-and-8.
