PITTSBURGH -- Jason Bay and Adam LaRoche each drove in two
runs and the Pittsburgh Pirates snapped their seven-game losing
streak with a 7-to-3 win over Houston.
Paul Maholm improved to 6-and-12. He pitched effectively over
six and two-thirds innings. The win enables the Pirates to exit
last place in the N-L Central.
Freddy Sanchez hit a solo homer and scored three times for the
Pirates, who hadn't won in 13 days since beating the Cubs on July
Houston's Wandy Rodriguez fell to 6-and-9.
