PLATEAU DE BEILLE, FRANCE -- Spain's Alberto Contador has won the 14th stage of the Tour de France as he tries to put pressure on overall leader Michael Rasmussen of Denmark.

Contador and Rasmussen finished alone after outpacing a small
group of breakaway riders late in the 122-mile climb through the
Pyrenees. Contador finished the stage in five hours, 25 minutes and
48 seconds to move into second overall, two minutes and 23 seconds
of Rasmussen.

Australian Cadel Evans began the day one minute off the lead.
But he fell behind in the last three miles and dropped to third
overall, more than three minutes back.
