Coolbaugh Killed By Line Drive

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The president of the Tulsa Drillers minor-league team says Mike Coolbaugh's death is "a tragedy for all of baseball."

Coolbaugh was coaching first base during the team's game against
the Arkansas Travelers last night when a line-drive foul struck him
in the head and killed him.

The 35-year-old coach was given C-P-R on the field and rushed to
a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The game was suspended.

Coolbaugh, who played 44 games in the major leagues with the St.
Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers, joined the Drillers as a
batting coach July Third. The team is a Double-A affiliate of the
Colorado Rockies.
