COLLEGE STATION -- After Iowa State's 85-82 upset of Kansas State on Saturday, Texas A&M finishes in a tie for second in the final Big 12 standings with the Wildcats and Baylor with 11-5 records.
The upset does not affect the Big 12 tournament seedings. A&M will be seeded No. 4 when the tournament begins next week in Kansas City.
The finish matches the best for the Aggies in the 14-year history of the Big 12. The 2006-07 team also finished as runner-up with a 13-3 mark.
A&M was picked fifth in the preseason coaches poll, but that was before the Aggies lost senior leader Derrick Roland for the season with a broken leg. Roland was the team's No. 2 scorer and was regarded as one of the nation's top defenders before being sidelined with the injury in December.

This team has faced a lot of challenges this season, with Elonu leaving for the draft & the many injuries. Kudos to Coach Turgeon and these young men for persevering, playing with grit and determination. It has been a pleasure to watch them rise above it all. It's what true sport is about.
