HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- Sam Houston State is making their second ever trip to the NCAA tournament, but they won't be afraid of the bright lights on center stage in New Orleans.
The Bearkats have played games against the "Power Six" conferences this season, including a win at Auburn and a ten point loss at Kentucky. In that game Corey Allmond set a Rupp Arena record with 11 three-pointers.
"We've definitely been on big stages," says Bearkat guard Ashton Mitchell, "especially me in my four years. I've been to UCLA, Oklahoma State, and then Kentucky so, I mean, this is a different experience though. This is my first time in the tournament and I'm excited about it."
The Bearkats and Baylor Bears will tip-off Thursday at 1:45 p.m.
