Astros Send Ensberg To San Diego

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres cut a pair of deals today.
They obtained infielder Morgan Ensberg from Houston and
outfielder-infielder Rob Mackowiak from the Chicago White Sox.
The Astros sent Ensberg and cash considerations to the Padres
for a player to be named or cash. The White Sox traded Mackowiak to
San Diego for minor league pitcher Jon Link.
The 31-year-old Ensberg was an All-Star in 2005 when he helped
Houston reach the World Series, but has not been the same caliber
player since tearing a tendon in his right shoulder diving for a
foul ball in June of last year.
Mackowiak, who is also 31 years old, is a career .264 hitter
with 63 homers and 280 R-B-Is in seven major league seasons with
Pittsburgh and the White Sox.
