Bonds Hits Historic 756th Home Run

Barry Bonds has broken Hank Aaron's all-time home run record, hitting his 756th in Tuesday game against Washington. The San Francisco Giants slugger set the mark with a 5th-inning blast off Nationals pitcher Mike Bacsik.

Bonds was mobbed by his teammates at home plate after launching a 3-2 pitch over the right-center field wall. He breaks a record originally set by Aaron in April of 1974.

Aaron honored Bonds with a videotaped congratulations, offering his best wishes to Bonds and his family on "this historic occasion." Bonds was joined on the field by his godfather, Willie Mays, during a ceremony following the homer.

Bonds thanked his teammates for their support and also thanked his family. He became emotional when mentioning his father, former Giant Bobby Bonds.
