NORMAN, OK -- Oklahoma footbal coach Bob Stoops confirms the departure of backup center Chase Beeler from the team.
In a statement, Stoops says Chase wants to concentrate on his
academic interests and decided he didn't want to play any more.
Beeler played in five games last season as a freshman, starting
as an injury replacement against Middle Tennessee.
The 6-foot-3 Beeler totaled 18 knockdowns last season --
including 11 in that lone start.
