Cook Gets Wildcard Invite To U.S. Open

COLLEGE STATION -- Former Texas A&M men’s tennis standout Lester Cook has been awarded a wild card entry into the 2007 U.S. Open Qualifying Tournament to be held on Aug. 21-24 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

Cook, a three-time All-American for the Aggies from 2002-04, was one of nine American men selected to the qualifier. Originally from Sherman Oaks, Calif., the 23-year-old was a two-time All-Big 12 Conference selection in singles and three-time honoree in doubles. He ranks 14th all-time in career singles victories (64) and 15th all-time in career doubles victories (56) at A&M.

The U.S. Open is the highest annually-attended sporting event in the world and will officially commence on Aug. 27. For more information, go to www.usta.com.
