Santana Stifles Rangers

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Johan Santana notched a franchise-record 17
strikeouts as the Minnesota Twins beat Texas 1-0.
Santana's strikeouts were the most in the majors since Ben
Sheets fanned 18 in Milwaukee's 4-1 win over Atlanta during the
2004 season.
Santana improved to 13-and-9. He retired the first 12 batters he
faced before Sammy Sosa singled to lead off the fifth. Sosa also
doubled with two outs in the seventh for the Rangers' only other
hit against the left-hander.
Joe Nathan finished the two-hitter for his 29th save.
Michael Cuddyer (kuh-DY'-ur) hit a second-inning homer off loser
Kevin Millwood.
