Texans Look For Runs To Complement Passes

HOUSTON (AP) - Matt Schaub has shown enough poise and flash
during Houston's first two preseason games that the Texans should
feel good about their new-look passing game.
The running game is more of a mystery.
While the starting running game hasn't been bad, it would be a
stretch to call it good. While Schaub was 9-of-12 for 108 yards and
ran for a touchdown in a 33-20 win over Arizona yesterday, fellow
offseason addition Ahman Green gained just 19 yards on six carries.
Coach Gary Kubiak said Green took a hard hit on the third play
of the game and was a "little woozy" after that.
But Houston's other running backs didn't do a lot either. Samkon
Gado led the group with eight carries for 29 yards and Ron Dayne
added 23 yards on six carries.
The team finished with 143 yards rushing after gaining just 75
yards in the exhibition opener.
