COLLEGE STATION -- The Texas A&M football team worked once on Monday in full pads on the grass practice fields adjacent to the McFerrin Athletic Center.
“We started off with a short walk through and stretching inside the McFerrin (Athletic) Center,” Coach Dennis Franchione said. “The rest of practice was outside and we have been outside for most of the last few practices. It was a pretty solid workout.”
Coach Fran has been pleased with the intensity of the workouts this fall.
“I like one (first unit) versus one but we have changed it up a bit and have gone some O1 (first offense) against D2 (second defense) and O2 versus D1,” Coach Fran said. “I still like one versus one, though.”
Question was asked about working more outside as the first game approaches.
“We are past the initial teaching phase and the indoor (McFerrin Athletic Center) helped us install fast and learn faster,” Coach Fran said. “Instead of surviving in the heat (and trying to learn), we are more polish and clean now.”
The Aggies will work twice on Tuesday.
The Aggies open the 2007 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 1 against Montana State at Kyle Field. Kick is scheduled for 6 p.m. For ticket and other information go to AggieAthletics.com.
