LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Joe Ganz says he'll put aside his
disappointment in losing the competition for the starting
quarterback's job at Nebraska and do whatever is asked of him as
Sam Keller's backup.
Ganz says it was a hard pill to swallow yesterday when Coach
Bill Callahan told him the decision. But Ganz said he can't put
himself ahead of the team's best interest. So he's preparing to be
the backup and not feeling sorry for himself.
Offensive coordinator Shawn Watson says even though Keller won
the competition, Ganz wasn't far behind.
Watson says the backup quarterback is the most important guy on
the team. Watson was coaching at Colorado when backup Bobby
Pesavento led the Buffaloes to the 2001 Big 12 title.
Watson said Ganz would be a capable starter if Keller were out.
