Brenham's Cecil Cooper Gets First Win As Astros Manager

HOUSTON -- Roy Oswalt combined with two relievers on a six-hitter as Houston blanked St. Louis 7-0, preventing the Cardinals from gaining ground in the NL Central race.
Oswalt is 14-and-6 after holding the Redbirds to four hits and
no walks while striking out nine in seven innings. He also hit an
RBI single en route to his sixth victory in seven starts.
Lance Berkman provided a solo homer and an RBI double as the
Astros improved to 1-and-1 under manager Cecil Cooper. Luke Scott
also went deep for the Astros, who kept the Cards two games off the
division lead.
Kip Wells was tagged for five runs and nine hits in six-plus
innings to fall to 6-and-15.
Rick Ankiel had two of the Cardinals' six hits to raise his average to .321.
