The Hammer Is Back

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Hank Blalock returned to the Texas lineup
with a dramatic go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning of the
Texas Rangers' 8-7 win over the L.A. Angels.
Blalock, a two-time All-Star, had been limited to 39 games this
season because of a condition called "thoracic outlet syndrome,"
which affects the nerves that pass through the shoulder into the
neck. He had surgery May 21st to remove a rib, which helped
alleviate the problem.
The Angels remained six and a-half games ahead of Seattle in the
AL West, as the Mariners lost for the ninth straight time.
Staked to an 8-5 lead, Rangers closer C.J. Wilson struggled in
the ninth. He allowed two runs before striking out Garret Anderson
with the bases loaded for the final out. It was his 10th save in 11
chances. Wes Littleton is 3-and-1 with the win.
