Blake Loses, Roddick Advances

NEW YORK CITY, NY -- Tommy Haas fended off three match points and
eliminated sixth-seed James Blake from the U.S. Open 4-6, 6-4, 3-6,
6-love, 7-6. Haas moves into the quarterfinals for the third time
in four years.

Fifth-seed Andy Roddick also moved into the quarters when Tomas
Berdych (TOH'-mahs bur-DEEK') retired due to breathing difficulties
in the second set. Roddick was ahead 7-6, 2-love at the time.

Fourth-seed Svetlana Kuznetsova advanced to the quarterfinals
with a straight set win.
