HUNTSVILLE - Following a 48-10 victory over Arkansas-Monticello, the Sam Houston State football team moved up two spots in this week's FCS Coaches' Poll. The Bearkats come into this week as the No. 14 ranked team in the nation.

After wins against a pair of Division II opponents, the Bearkats will get a
good test this week as they travel to North Dakota State. Despite not being eligible for the FCS playoffs, the Bison are currently ranked No. 4. This past weekend, the Bison opened their season with a 28-19 victory over Stephen F. Austin.

Two other Southland Conference schools rank among the top 25 in the nation with McNeese State in at No. 9, down three spots after a bye week. Nicholls State makes the biggest jump of the week, climbing to No. 18 after cracking in at No. 25 last week.

Two-time defending national champion Appalachian State received all
first-place votes for the second week in a row of the Coaches Football
Championship Subdivision (FCS) poll. The Mountaineers beat Lenior-Rhyne 48-7 to remain undefeated.

Massachusetts received 632 votes to tie Montana for second. North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Youngstown State, James Madison, McNeese State and Wofford round out the rest of the top 10.

FCS Coaches Poll is based exclusively on a voting panel of head coaches in the FCS under the cooperation of the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).
