AUSTIN -- Texas senior safety Tyrell Gatewood is in Travis County Jail today, charged with two drug possession counts.

Gatewood was arrested after a Travis County deputy stopped his
vehicle for not signaling a turn while he and freshman defensive
back Ben Wells were on a drive near Austin.

A sheriff's spokesman says the deputy smelled marijuana,
searched the vehicle and found marijuana, Xanax and a baby bottle
full of cough syrup containing codeine.

Gatewood's bond is set at $5,000. He's also held on a Dallas
County reckless driving warrant from March. Bond for that charge
was set at $500.

The senior from Tyler switched from wide receiver to safety
before the 2006 season, and has played mostly on special teams.

Wells was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia
and released. The Beaumont Ozen alumnus was a prep All-American and all-state selection. He graduated from high school early to enroll
at Texas and take part in spring drills.
