Rangers & A's Get Testy

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Rangers pitcher Vicente Padilla and
Athletics outfielder Nick Swisher were ejected in the first inning
of today's game.
It happened after Swisher was hit in the ribs by a pitch from
Bill White and rushed the mound.
Swisher tackled Padilla and both benches cleared. Oakland third
baseman Jack Hannahan dove into the pile.
A's manager Bob Geren remained in a heated argument with the
Second base umpire Tim Timmons was bumped to the ground during
the fray. Plate umpire Chuck Meriwether wasted little time in
tossing Padilla and Swisher.
Catcher Kurt Suzuki had restrain Swisher.
Kevin Thompson replaced Swisher, while Jamey Wright came in for
Texas scored four times in the top of the eighth inning and the Rangers beat Oakland 11-9. Michael Young led the way for the Rangers with seven RBIs. He was 3-for-4 with two runs
Mark Ellis drove in three runs for the A's.
Reliever John Rheinecker got the win, his third in five
decisions, while loser Andrew Brown falls to 3-and-3.
