Sam Houston State Drops To No. 15 In NCAA Div. I-FCS poll

By  |

HUNTSVILLE -- After losing a heartbreaker on the road to a top-five opponent, the Sam Houston State Bearkats dropped one spot in the two Football Championship Subdivision polls this week.

Following a 41-38 loss to the North Dakota State Bison, the Bearkats dropped a spot to No. 15 in the FCS Coaches Poll and to No. 17 in the latest Sports Network Poll. The Bearkats took the lead in that game with just 26 second remaining, but then had to watch as the Buffaloes scored with seven seconds remaining for the win. North Dakota State remained in the same spot in both rankings (No. 4 coaches, No. 5 SN).

McNeese State picked up the second win over an FBS opponent for the
Southland Conference with a convincing win over Louisiana-Lafayette and jumped one spot in the Coaches Poll to No. 8 and two places in the Sports Network Poll to No. 6. The other ranked Southland team, Nicholls State remained in the Coaches Poll despite losing this past weekend. After falling to FBS Nevada, the Colonels were dropped two spots to No. 20 by the coaches and fell completely out of the top 25 by Sports Network.
