Bennett's Number Change Impresses Hurricanes

CORAL GABLES, FL -- The Miami Hurricanes really wanted Martellus Bennett.

They wooed the talented tight end from Texas, got a verbal
commitment before his junior year of high school -- then watched
him enroll at Texas A&M.

No hard feelings.

Not after the way Bennett is paying tribute to the Port Arthur
native who hosted him on his recruiting trip to Miami.

Bennett switched his number from 13 to 85 for the 20th-ranked
Aggies 54-14 win over Louisiana-Monroe -- in honor of former Miami
tight end Kevin Everett.

The Buffalo Bills player sustained a life-threatening spinal
cord injury in the team's opener against Denver.

That change-of-numbers gesture was warmly received by the
Hurricanes. Miami tight end DajLeon Farr, who also grew up in
Texas, said that was a great move.

Everett has now wiggled his toes, moved his ankles, elevated his
legs and had slight movement in both hands.
