Aggie Riders Add Two Invited Walk-Ons to Roster

COLLEGE STATION -- The six-time national champion Texas A&M equestrian team has added two invited walk-ons, head coach Tana Rawson announced on Monday.

The Aggies have added both Tara Christiansen (Snohomish, Wash.) and Amber Goodwin (West Newbury, Mass.) to the six riders signed in the 2006-07 recruiting class.

³I believe that both of these girls will be able to make a significant
impact on our team and really contribute to the ever-increasing depth that we have established,² A&M head coach Tana Rawson said. ³We feel extremely honored that they want to be a part of our program.²

Tara Christiansen, who will show western for the Aggies, was the 2006 American Quarter Horse Youth Association (AQHYA) world champion in working cow horse. Christiansen earned AQHYA top 10 finishes this year in both working cow horse and reining. She also has multiple National Reining Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) national and regional championships and reserve finishes. The 2007 Snohomish High School graduate has been showing horses for 10 years and riding for 15. Tara is the daughter of Terry and Annette Christiansen.

Amber Goodwin, who will show hunter seat for the Aggies, has spent the past few summers showing 3¹6² equitation over fences in competitions such as the U.S. Equestrian Team (USET) Medal and Maclay Medal competitions, earning ribbons in both. Amber¹s trainers are Kathryn Borylo and Stephanie Andreottola at Spring Tide Farm in Boxford, Mass. The 2007 graduate of Pentucket Regional Senior High School is the daughter of Thomas and Carol Goodwin.

The Aggies signed Henrietta Armstrong (Wellington, Fla.), Brooke Coleman (Houston), Haley Cooper (Southlake), Amanda Goldman (Shreveport, La.), Julie Pipoly (Toledo, Ohio), Elizabeth Solch (Cincinnati) and Randi Standley (Madisonville) during the 2006-07 recruiting year.
