The Cougars are followed by 2004 runner-up Salt Lake Community College (Salt Lake City, Utah) in second and 2006 fifth-place finisher Blinn College (Brenham, Texas) in third.
Western Nebraska has improved to 24-1 overall with impressive wins over Casper (twice), Seward County, Colby and Garden City last week. The Cougars are led by Jennifer Eichler (3.7 kills per game), Shawntell Jones (1.2 blocks per game), Soriana Pacheco (10.0 assists per game, 1.1 aces per game) and Nayka Benitez (3.5 digs per game, 1.1 aces per game).
Salt Lake improved to 28-1 with wins over Western Wyoming, #3 Iowa Western, Eastern Arizona, Phoenix, Long Beach City, Glendale, Chandler-Gilbert and Arizona Western last week. The Bruins are led by Cinthia Silva (3.6 kills per game, Talita Santos (0.9) blocks per game, Michaela Hanakova (10.3 assists per game), Morgan Lloyd (4.3 digs per game and Samantha Richard (0.67 aces per game).
Blinn College improves to 17-0 this week with twins over #20 Lake Land (Illinois), #3 University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, ORV Jefferson College and #8 Missouri University-West Plains. The Buccaneers are led by Sabrina Daniel (3.4 kills per game), Lina Vangeas (1.7 blocks per game), Caroline Witte (11.3 assists per game), Sydney Milburn (3.7 digs per game) and Hayley Ball (1.3 aces per game).
Win number 17 came Tuesday night at Alvin.
This is the highest ranking in Blinn College’s Volleyball history in 2003 and 2006 the Buccaneers were ranked #4 in the Nation.
Iowa Western drops three spots to sixth with a loss to #2 Salt Lake.
Barton County is up three spots to 10th with a win over Cloud County.
Tyler is up six spots to 13th with nine wins last week.
Seward County enters the poll at 14th with five wins last week, including a win over #10 Northeastern.
Hutchinson drops three spots to 15th with losses to #9 MSU-West Plains, #4 Miami Dade and #20 Lake Land (Ill.)
Northeastern drops nine spots to 19th with a loss to others receiving votes Seward County.
Panola drops from 15th to others with losses to Alvin, North Central Texas and #19 Tyler.
Lake Land (Ill.) drops from 20th to others with losses to #3 Blinn, #4 Miami Dade and #7 U of Ark.- Fort Smith.
