BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Things are looking up for Kevin Everett. After discussing Everett's condition with the Bills orthopedic surgeon, Doctor Barth Green tells The Associated Press, "They're very confident he'll be walking very soon."

The prognosis is remarkable considering the backup tight end
arrived at a Buffalo hospital on September ninth paralyzed from the
neck down after being hurt while making a tackle in Buffalo's
season opener against Denver. Doctors initially expressed fears
Everett would never walk again.

Everett, who was strong enough to sit up on his own in his bed
this week, is expected to be transferred to a hospital in his
hometown of Houston by this weekend to begin the next step of his
rehabilitation.
