SHENANDOAH, TX -- Derrick Dick caught a 32 yard touchdown pass from Jaylan Cheshire with under six minutes to play in the 4th quarter as the A&M Consolidated Tigers rallied to beat The Woodlands Highlanders 21-14.
Patrick Carr opened up the scoring with a 1st quarter 72 yard touchdown run for the Highlanders and a 7-0 lead.
But Consolidated would answer in the 2nd quarter on a 53 yard touchdown run by Xavier Jones to tie the game at 7. Corey Stoll snagged an interception for the Tigers later on in the second quarter, but a botched FG attempt kept the game tied at 7 at the half.
On Consol's first possession of the 3d quarter, Jaylan Cheshrie gives the Tigers their first lead of the game thanks to a 62 yard quarterback keeper to make it 14-7.
The Woodlands will answer early in the 4th on Patrick Carr's second touchdown run of the game. This one from 15 yards to tie things at 14.
The Tigers would put together the game winning drive after that. Consol would convert two fourth down conversions on the drive. The first conversion came on the Highlander 46 yard line. Jones looked like he would be stopped behind the line of scrimmage but bounced outside and stayed on his feet to pick up the first down. Cheshire would convert a fourth and one later in the drive on a quarterback sneak from the Highlander 33. Cheshire threw the game winning touchdown pass to Dick on the next play.
The Tigers will return to action October 12 when they face Bryan in the Crosstown Showdown at Kyle Field.
