BRYAN, TX -- The A&M Consolidated Tigers not only posted a 54 to 7 win over Bryan last week, but after The Woodlands beat Lufkin, both the Tigers and Highlanders moved into a first place in the 14-5A district standings with the Panthers just a 1/2 game back.
The Tigers will look to remain in first place in the league as they travel down to Shenandoah on Thursday night to battle College Park at Woodforest Bank Stadium.
The Tigers' victory in the crosstown showdown was costly as Jaylan Cheshire suffered a leg injury and will be sidelined Thursday night.
Weston Garner, who suffered an injury in the Stony Point scrimmage back in August will now step back on the field to guide Consol.
"He was playing very well going into the Stony Point game matter of fact played a great couple of series before he got injured," said Head Coach David Raffield. "He's been doing rehab and practicing the last three weeks to get ready for his opportunity. Opportunity came and I think he made the most of it."
Garner split time with Jacob Bronowski last season. He'll trigger the Tiger offense tomorrow night down at Woodforest Bank Stadium.. Kickoff against College Park is set for 7pm.
