COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M sophomore Harrison Adams was named the Southeastern Conference men’s tennis player of the week early Wednesday afternoon.
The New Braunfels native went 2-0 in singles matches last weekend defeating No. 55 Tsvetan Mihov of South Carolina and No. 65 Spencer Newman of Florida. In addition to his solid singles play, Adams paired with fellow sophomore Shane Vinsant to better the Gators’ 9th ranked doubles tandem of Gordon Watson and Elliott Orkin.
The Aggies are ranked an SEC-leading No. 8 in this week’s ITA rankings thanks in large part to Adams stellar play this spring. Adams has claimed singles wins in each of A&M’s last five matches; all five victories featured opponents in the ITA top-75 including a personal best win over the No. 2 player in the country, Guillermo Alcorta of Oklahoma.
Adams and his teammates will embark on an SEC road trip next weekend taking on No. 22 Kentucky Friday evening and then moving on to face No. 18 Vanderbilt Sunday afternoon. Stay tuned to AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieMTEN on Twitter for coverage of Texas A&M men’s tennis.
