Aggie True Freshman Making His Mark at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, OK -- Shane Vinsant, a true freshman on the Aggie men’s tennis team, is making his mark at the ITA All-American Championships being held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Vinsant, from Keller, Texas, defeated Ashok Narayan of Columbia, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, in the second round to advance to the qualifying round on Wednesday against Ben Davis of Middle Tennessee who is seeded No. 30 overall.

Vinsant also teamed with fellow freshman, Harrison Adams, from New Braunfels, to win their opening doubles match defeating Virginia Tech’s duo of Andreas Bjerrehus and Amerigo Contini, 8-4. The Aggie freshmen tandem will now face the No. 7 seed duo of Alexis Heugas and Max Wennakoski of VCU.

Aggie sophomore Jeremy Efferding from Boca Raton, Florida, dropped a three-set match to No. 19 seed Max Wennakoski, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in his second-round match on Tuesday.

Another Aggie duo of junior Alberto Bautista from McAllen, and Efferding, dropped a hard-fought doubles match to the No. 9 seed Clemson tandem of Domonique and Yannick Maden, 9-7.
