Tallahassee, Fla.—The No. 14 Texas A&M women’s golf team shot 17 over par Sunday to finish the Seminole Match Up in sixth place.
The Aggies (296-299-305) recorded a three day total of 900 (+36). Fellow Southeastern Conference school Georgia (290-300-287=877,+13) shot one under par in round three to place first in the tournament, followed by Oklahoma (+17), Tennessee (+18), Florida State (+29) and Furman (+33). Notre Dame (+42) came in seventh, with UTSA (+45), Michigan (+54), Kansas (+57), UNCG (+68) and UNC Wilmington (+73) brought up the rear.
“We finished in sixth today and that may be something good for us in the long run,” head coach Trelle McCombs said after the tournament concluded. “I knew these four girls would step up and play well, we just need to get back to work this week and start competing better on every hole.”
Senior Sarah Beth Davis (73-73-74=221,+5) shot just two over par for the day to finish in 11th individually while junior Chelsea Mocio (76-72-76=224,+8) tied for 14th. Juniors Katerina Ruzickova (73-76-77=226) and Natalie Reeves (74-77-78=229) rounded out the A&M team score with three day totals of 10 and 13 over par, correspondingly.
“Sarah and Chelsea finished a solid week of golf to finish in the top-15,” McCombs added following Sunday’s round. “I was very proud of their performance this week, not having Mary Michael in the lineup is hard, but I knew the team would respond well.”
Next up on the schedule for the Aggies is the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans, La. Feb. 24-26. Live scoring for the event can be found at GolfStat.com.
