COLLEGE STATION, TX -- The sports pass registration period for Texas A&M students who purchased a football sports option for the 2010-11 or 2011-12 academic years has concluded. 17,452 current Texas A&M students registered for a sports option during the Phase One registration period. 12,832 football options remain for the 2012-13 school year.
“We are pleased to see the high turnout for the Phase One registration period. We appreciate current students registering early for their sports options ensuring they’ll be in the stands as we begin SEC play this fall,” Texas A&M Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Operations Jeff Schmahl said. “Phase Two registration will now include all remaining upperclassmen and incoming students for the 2012-13 academic year.”
“We have continued to seek student input on sports passes and the possible challenges we face with student demand exceeding supply this fall,” said Student Body President John Claybrook and former Student Body President Jeff Pickering. “The overwhelming sentiment of our students is the desire for as many students as possible to have the experience of standing as the 12th Man at an Aggie football game. We have suggested a three game football sports options as a vehicle to allow more students the opportunity to attend 2012 football games. It was received favorably for the intended purpose of allowing more students to attend games, but we also heard that it addresses financial and time constraints that appear to prevent some A&M students from attending every home game.”
Up to 10% of the remaining sports passes will be converted to three game passes and offered to both current and incoming Texas A&M students for the fall. The “Maroon” option will include Florida, South Carolina State and Missouri. The “White” option will include Arkansas, LSU & Sam Houston State. The offering of three game packages may be adjusted based on demand.
Phase two registration for current students will begin on Thursday, May 10th at 8 a.m. Eligible students can register for their 2012-13 sport option at mysportspass.tamu.edu. A percentage of remaining football options will be held exclusively for new students until notifications are sent and they have the opportunity to register for a sports option.
The new three game football sports options are $112.50 each. The regular football all game option is $225 and the all-sports option is $350 and includes prepaid admission to all regular season home events. Aggie athletics will continue to offer the all sports without football option for $175. A three game with all sports package is $237.50.
Eligible students can register for their 2012-13 sport option at mysportspass.tamu.edu. Incoming students will have access to register for a sports option as their new student conference registration is processed. Incoming students will also receive specific instructions by mail from the athletics department.
No payment is required at the time of registration. Students sports options are billed through Student Financial Services. Fee statements are released in early August.
