BRYAN, Texas -- No. 3 Seed A&M Earns Ninth Straight NCAA Tournament Berth
No. 15 Texas A&M was selected to its ninth straight NCAA Tournament on Monday night, and begins its 2014 NCAA Tournament in College Station on Sunday, March 23 against North Dakota.
The Aggies (24-8) enter the 64-team tournament as a 3-seed in the Lincoln Regional, marking the seventh straight year the Aggies have been at least a 3-seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Aggies open the tournament Sunday (7 p.m., ESPN2) inside Reed Arena against 14-seed North Dakota (22-9), who received an automatic bid by winning the Big Sky Conference Tournament.
College Station also welcomes 6-seed Gonzaga (29-4) and 11-seed James Madison (28-5), on March 23 (4:30, ESPN), with the winner facing either A&M or North Dakota in the Second Round at 8:30 p.m. on March 25 in Reed Arena.
The winner of the College Station First-and-Second Round Site faces the winner of the Durham, N.C. Site which features Duke (27-6), DePaul (27-6), Oklahoma (18-14) and Winthrop (24-8) in the Lincoln Regional. The Lincoln Regional takes place on Mar. 29-31 in Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The Aggies are one of 12 schools to have qualified for at least nine consecutive NCAA Tournaments, joining Baylor, Connecticut, DePaul, Duke, Georgia, Marist, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Stanford, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt.
