COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M men’s swimming and diving team stands in fifth place after the second day of the Southeastern Conference Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday at the Student Recreation Center.

The No. 17 Aggie men stand in fifth with 288.5 points trailing No. 5 Auburn (417), No. 4 Florida (412.5), No. 8 Georgia (372), and No. 11 Tennessee (300.5). Rounding out the standings were LSU (272.5), Missouri (252), South Carolina (201), Alabama (187), and Kentucky (153).

Making it to the podium was senior John Dalton in the 50 free, placing third with a time of 19.56 for an NCAA ‘B’ time. Dalton was .12 seconds off his own team record, which he set at last year’s NCAA Championships. Junior Henrik Lindau tied for fifth place in the finals and entered the team’s all-time top ten for the 50 free with an NCAA ‘B’ time of 19.75.

Junior Simon Frank broke his own school record in the 200 IM with an NCAA ‘B’ time of 1:45.82. This replaces his record set at last year’s Big 12 Championship of 1:46.97. In the same event, John Wagner and Hayden Duplechain enter the team’s all-time top ten, with NCAA ‘B’ times of 1:46.54 and 1:48.92.

The 200 free relay of Lindau, Dalton, freshman Cory Bolleter, and junior Kyle Troskot took third place with an NCAA ‘A’ time of 1:17.95, and coming within .32 seconds of the current longest standing team record. The record of 1:17.63 was set in 2001 at the NCAA Championships, which were also held in College Station.

The SEC Championships return to action on Thursday with the prelims at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
