RANCHO SATNA FE, California – The No. 22 Texas A&M Women’s Golf team moved up two places into seventh place at the SDSU Farms Invitational in Rancho Santa Fe, California Monday afternoon.

The Aggies shot the fifth lowest round on the day as they ascended the leaderboard to seventh (311-305=616). Top-ranked Southern Cal leads the field at 11-over (298-298=587). UNLV (302-298=600), Arizona (306-298=604), Pepperdine (303-301=604) and Texas (303-306=609) round out the top-10 following the Women of Troy. Just ahead of A&M in sixth place Northwestern sits at 37-over through 36 holes (305-308=613). Trailing the Aggies are California (307-310=617), Miami (309-309=618), host San Diego State (311-316=627), Long Beach State (317-317=634), New Mexico (317-319=636), South Florida (321-315=636), Michigan (325-331=656) and Wyoming (344-320=664).

“The team played the final few holes better today,” head coach Trelle McCombs said after the round. “This group is due for an excellent round and I think we are ready to breakout.”

Individually the junior Katerina Ruzickova made the biggest move up the leader board from a tie for 46th all the way to a tie for 12th following her two-under 70 on the day. The 70 from Ruzickova was the second lowest round on the day, behind only the current tournament leader Sophia Popov of Southern Cal. Not too far behind Ruzickova is senior Sarah Beth Davis in a tie for 25th at nine-over (74-79=153), just one stroke behind Davis is junior Chelsea Mocio in a tie for 30th (79-75=154). Junior Natalie Reeves (78-81=159) and senior Mary Michael Maggio (81-82=163) round out the A&M group in a tie for 47th and 57th respectively.

“Kat (Ruzickova) really played great today,” McCombs added about Davis’ strong opening round. “She was steady throughout the round and it showed with her posting the second best round in the field. Kat can get out there tomorrow and try to move even further up the board.”

The Aggies will return to the course 9:30 a.m. (CT) with the lead group at the first tee, joined with Miami and California to kick off the final day of play. Live scoring of the event can be found at
