BRYAN, TX -- Getting prepared for the Twin City Mission’s annual Coats and Blankets Drive is a big task and the Texas A&M men’s swimming and diving team was there to help as the organization got ready for Oct. 1 Collection Kickoff.

The Aggies’ task for their annual community service project was preparing the Twin City Mission’s warehouse for the arrival of the many coats and blankets that will then be distributed to families in need throughout the Brazos Valley.

Longtime Twin City Mission Community Relations Director Ron Crozier appreciated the Aggies’ help and their enthusiasm.

“You want to talk about impressive…it was like watching the 400 free relay,” Crozier said. “These guys took off and never stopped! The group leaders laid out the plan, and, just like that, it was like ants in a colony. It was really cool to see these guys representing their country, their hometown, their school and their team.”

Job No. 1 for the 30-plus Aggies was sweeping and generally cleaning up the 4,700-square foot facility that has processed and housed over 10,000 donated coats and blankets over the past five years. The Twin City Mission has been helping individuals and families in need in the Brazos Valley for nearly 50 years.

“A community service project is only effective if it impacts the community, and what these guys did for the annual Coat & Blanket Drive has tremendous impact,” Crozier added. “Twin City Mission gained a new friend in the Texas A&M Swimming and Diving Team!
