COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies’ 2012 recruiting class was ranked No. 13 by Collegiate Baseball, the newspaper’s latest edition revealed.

The Aggies class includes 16 freshmen and one junior college transfer.

Texas A&M’s 2013 squad will feature five freshmen who were selected in the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft, led by OF Danny Holst who was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 31st round. The Tribe also selected INF Cory Raley, brother of former Aggie All-American Brooks Raley, in the 33rd round. OF/1B Ryan Rand was picked by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 34th round. LHP/OF A.J. Minter was a 38th round choice of the Detroit Tigers and RHP Grayson Long was picked by the Seattle Mariners in the 39th round.

Holst was also named to the Collegiate Baseball 2012 High School All-America team last June.

The Aggies will boast eight players named to the Perfect Game USA 2012 High School Preseason All-America team. Holst, Long, Minter and Rand were joined by LHP Rex Hill, RHP/1B Hunter Melton, OF J.B. Ross and RHP/INF Andrew Vinson.

Texas A&M ranked second among Lone Star state schools in the Collegiate Baseball recruiting class ranking, trailing only Texas Christian (No. 12). The Aggies were rated ahead of Texas (No. 15), Rice (No. 27), Houston (No. 36), Baylor (No. 43), Dallas Baptist (No. 58) and Texas Tech (No. 60).

The Aggies ranked second among the seven teams in the SEC West and sixth overall in the SEC.
