GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Texas A&M women’s golf team turned in an 11-over par performance Saturday to remain in eighth place at the Lady Paladin Invitational, hosted by Furman University.
A&M (302-299) was led by senior Katerina Ruzickova (76-73) and freshman Bianca Fabrizio (75-74) both Aggies are currently tied for 20th heading into Sunday’s final round.
“Kat and Bianca each had solid rounds on Saturday to lead the team so far in South Carolina,” head coach Trelle McCombs said. “Kat continues to play well this season despite not getting anything to fall I know she will keep after it and have some great rounds for us throughout the year. Bianca is young and needs to learn a few things about college golf and once she does, she will be a great player for us.”
Georgia Regents (285-288) maintained control of the leaderboard through two rounds; Clemson (287-291), Wisconsin (290-294), Furman (290-301) and East Carolina (301-292) fill-out the top five. Florida State (294-300), Samford (307-291), A&M, Kennesaw State (306-298), Coastal Carolina (301-304) and Georgia State (302-303) round out the top ten. Completing the field are Wofford (302-309), Southern Mississippi (314-309), Nova Southeastern (316-312), UNC Wilmington (302-327) and UNC Greensboro (325-316).
“For the second round in a row we started great, but could not get out of our own way to finish the round strong,” McCombs said. “Despite the slight rain in the last few holes the weather has not impacted our play. I expect us to come out swinging tomorrow and focus on finishing the round.”
Joining Ruzickova and Fabrizio in the maroon and white were senior Chelsea Mocio (74-78 T37), freshman Andrea Jonama (77-76 T44) and freshman Thanya Pattamakijsakul (82-76 T65). The Aggies tallied 13 birdies in Saturday’s round.
Sophomore Alex Neal (77-78), playing as an individual, is currently tied for 55th.
The Aggies will return to the links tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. (CT) for a shotgun start.
