Aggies know they can't take SC St. lightly

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Texas A&M took note of the times this season when Football Championship Subdivision teams have pulled off upsets over BCS teams.

When the Aggies meet South Carolina State for the first time on Saturday, they know better than to overlook the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference team, despite its 56-0 loss last week at Arizona.

Texas A&M actually believes that difficult defeat could make the Bulldogs even more dangerous.

Aggies senior linebacker Jonathan Stewart says that they don't want to take the Bulldogs lightly and end up having to answer the question of: 'How did you lose to that team.'

Texas A&M looks to pick up its first win at Kyle Field after opening the season with a 20-17 loss to No. 14 Florida two weeks ago.

South Carolina St. (1-2) at Texas A&M (1-1), 6 p.m. Saturday CT (FSN)

WHAT'S AT STAKE

The Aggies look for their first home win and some momentum heading into next week's SEC matchup with Arkansas. South Carolina State will try to bounce back from last week's tough 56-0 loss to Arizona in the first meeting between these teams.

KEY MATCHUP

Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel vs. South Carolina State's defense. Manziel was named SEC freshman of the week after accounting for six touchdowns in Texas A&M's 48-3 win over SMU last week in his second career start. He threw four touchdown passes and ran for two scores. This week he'll face a defense that surrendered 687 yards and 48 first downs against Arizona last week.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

South Carolina State: QB Richard Cue leads the team in yards passing with 458 and yards rushing with 129. His best performance came in the Bulldogs season-opening win over Georgia State, when he threw for a career-high 300 yards and three touchdowns.

Texas A&M: DE Damontre Moore has five sacks in his first two games at defensive end after playing outside linebacker for the previous two seasons. He leads the nation in sacks a game and needs one more to reach 20 for his career. His performance is the top reason the Aggies lead the country in sacks a game with six.
