Aggies Collect 34 Track & Field All-America Honors

COLLEGE STATION, TX --A total of 34 All-America honors were awarded to the Texas A&M track and field program from recent performances a the NCAA Outdoor Championships this past weekend.

The Aggies achieved 27 first-team All-America honors from 21 athletes who placed among the top eight in the finals of their respective events. Six A&M athletes were awarded a pair of All-America honors. That group included Deon Lendore (400, 4x400), Ameer Webb (200, 4x100), Ashley Collier (200, 4x100), Dominique Duncan (200, 4x100), Olivia Ekponé (4x100, 4x400), and Natosha Rogers (5,000 and 10,000).

First-team All-America honors were also awarded to Ricky Babineaux (4x100), Michael Bryan (4x100), Wayne Davis II (110H), Prezel Hardy, Jr. (4x100), Sam Humphreys (Javelin), Henry Lelei (Steeplechase), Michael Preble (4x400), Joey Roberts (4x400), Carlyle Roudette (4x400), Dalton Rowan (Discus), Kanika Beckles (4x400), Kamaria Brown (4x400), Donique' Flemings (100H), Ibukun Mayungbe (4x400), and LaKeidra Stewart (4x100).

Duncan has a career total of eight first-team All-America honors, tying her for fifth among the Aggie all-time list with Gabby Mayo and Adrian Sawyer. Mayungbe, Flemings and Collier each collected their fourth All-America honors along with Wayne Davis II and Michael Preble.

Second team All-America recognition went to Laura Asimakis (Javelin), Devin Bogert (Javelin), Collier (100), Duncan (100), Hardy, Jr. (100, 200), and Mayungbe (400).

Aggie men finish as fourth best team in Program of the Year standings

The Texas A&M men's program finished fourth with 30 points in the running for the John McDonnell Program of the Year award presented by USTFCCCA. During the 2011-12 academic year, the Aggies placed 18th in NCAA Cross Country, tied for eighth during the NCAA Indoor Championships, and recently placed third at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Florida State claimed the award for the second consecutive year. This season the Seminoles finished 12th in cross country, tied for eighth at NCAA Indoor, and placed fourth at NCAA Outdoor for a total of 25 points. Indiana (26) finished second in the award standings ahead of Texas (27.5) while Florida (32), the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor team champion, placed fifth behind the Aggies.
